BACKPROJ is a versatile method that utilizes either the filtered or unfiltered backprojection algorithm to effectively carry out the inverse Radon transform. This transformative process involves designing a filter directly in the frequency domain and subsequently multiplying it by the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) of the projections. To ensure optimal results, the projections are zero-padded to a power of 2 prior to filtering, which serves the dual purpose of preventing spatial domain aliasing and enhancing the overall efficiency of the FFT. By employing these techniques, BACKPROJ achieves remarkable precision and expedites the transformation process.
